After a day-long clash between the anti-quota agitators and the Chhatra League in the Dhaka University (DU) area, there was a chase at night.
On Monday (July 15) around 8:30 pm, BCL leaders and activists chased from the direction of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
They chased the students till Chankharpool. On the other hand, Dr. In the area of Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, BCL leaders and activists are still standing on the road outside the hall after 8 pm. If any of the protesting students come out of the hall, they attack him. On the other hand, the protestors are taking position inside the hall.
It can be seen on the surface, at this time, a heated situation was created on both sides. The policemen who were 30 yards away from Shahidullah Hall also kept coming forward at this time. Sticks can be seen in both hands.
Earlier, around 3 o’clock in the evening, there was a back and forth between the agitators and BCL leaders-activists in front of the university’s VC’s residence, the mall square and the halls to its north. At one point, when the agitators retreated, they were caught and beaten.
Hundreds of injured students were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After 4 pm, a part of BCL leaders and workers took position around the medical. There was also a back and forth chase and clash between the two sides. Around 5:30 in the afternoon, the injured students who were taken to Dhaka Medical, were chased out by the BCL leaders and workers.
At one point, the students protesting. Muhammad went to Shahidullah Hall and took a stand. And the BCL leaders and workers took a stand outside the hall. Both sides started throwing stones at each other from their positions. At least two explosions were heard in the area at 5 pm.
After that, there is an incident of chasing and pelting bricks on the road in front of Dhaka Medical.
Clashes also took place in Dhaka Medical College and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
At 6:30 in the evening, bricks are being thrown from the roof of Shahidullah Hall in Doel Square. Because of this, BCL leaders and workers could not move forward. However, BCL leaders and activists from different parts of the campus were gathering at Doel Chatwar.
Between Shahidullah Hall and Burn Institute, there are BCL leaders and activists wearing helmets and holding batons. They were trying to enter the hall. However, the agitators on the hall gate and on the roof of the building were throwing bricks.
Policemen came there around 7:30 in the evening. However, the conflict continued.
At around 8 pm, the principal of Shahidullah Hall Javed Islam Patwari came in front of the gate of the hall and tried to talk to the protesting students on the hand mic. At this time, the students started chanting ‘fake, fake’ at him
The principal said, ‘I will only talk to the students of Shahidullah Hall. Action will be taken against those who attacked the protesters.
He requested the students who were in the hall to go inside the hall. And those who are in other halls or other places are asked to go to their destination.
At this time, the agitating students expressed their anger. They kept saying that outsiders came and attacked the protesting students. They want justice.
Around 8:30 pm, the agitating students are staying at the gate of Shahidullah Hall. Asif Mahmud, the coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, claimed that more than 200 students have been injured in the attack of Chhatra League.
Rods, sticks and hockey sticks were seen in the hands of BCL activists during the attack. At least 91 injured have been treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Injured students started coming to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from 4 pm on Monday. By 5 pm, 91 people have been treated.
It is to be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in response to a question about the quota reform movement at the press conference organized yesterday regarding the visit to China, ‘Why is there so much anger about the liberation war? The grandchildren of freedom fighters will get nothing, so will the grandchildren of Razakar get everything?’
The students of Dhaka University started protesting on Sunday night, complaining that the quota reform activists were called ‘children or grandchildren of Rajakar’ in the Prime Minister’s speech. First at night, the girl students of Rokeya Hall came out of the hall in a procession. They started chanting ‘Tumi ke ami ke, Razakar Razakar’. At one point, male and female students from all the halls of the university marched in groups and started protesting in front of the Raju sculpture of TSC. After about an hour and a half protest, they returned to the hall.
At the same time, the students of Chittagong and Rajshahi universities and other universities of the country also protested the Prime Minister’s speech at midnight.
Various universities of the country, including DU, became agitated on the same issue today. Around noon, hundreds of protestors came to Raju Bhaskar of DHA and took a stand. During this time, they raised various slogans demanding the withdrawal of the Prime Minister’s speech.
