The ambassadors of the European Union (EU) missions in Dhaka have expressed concern over the attack and vandalism of the places of worship of minorities and minority ethnic groups. They welcomed the initiatives taken by those involved in the ongoing student movement as well as others to protect minorities.
EU Embassy X (formerly Twitter) in Dhaka reported this information in a post on Tuesday afternoon.
The post said, ‘The Ambassadors of the European Union (EU) Mission in Dhaka are deeply concerned by the reports of attacks on places of worship and people belonging to minorities and ethnic minorities. We welcome the initiatives taken by those involved in the ongoing student movement as well as others to protect minorities.’
The ambassadors said, ‘We urge all Bangladeshis to exercise restraint as a matter of urgency, avoid all forms of religious violence and uphold basic human rights.’
It should be noted that in addition to the embassy of the European Union, there are embassies of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.
