The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved a total of four development projects. The total estimated cost of the projects is 1 thousand 222 crore 14 lakh taka.
This approval was given in the second meeting of ECNEC and the 1st meeting of the interim government in the current fiscal year (fiscal year-25) after the fall of the previous Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina in July-August student-led popular uprising.
On Wednesday (September 18) at 11:30 a.m., the interim government’s chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting held at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon area of the capital.
At the end of the meeting at 3 pm in the NEC conference room of Sherebangla Nagar, the advisor of the Ministry of Planning and Education presented the details in the press conference. Wahiduddin Mahmud.
Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud said that out of the total expenditure of 1222 crore 14 lakh taka, 963 crore 82 lakh crore will come from Bangladesh government, 100 crore 16 lakh will come as project support and the remaining 158 crore 16 lakh will be collected from the own funds of related organizations.
The two newly sanctioned projects are ‘two appraisal cum development wells (Sundalpur-4 and Srikail-5) and two exploratory wells (Sundalpur South-1 and Jamalur-1) at a cost of Tk 588.40 crore and Tk 400 crore ‘Sustainable Social Service Delivery Project in Chittagong Hill Tracts (Phase 2)’.
Besides, two more revised projects are ‘Bakhrabad-Meghnaghat-Haripur Gas Transmission Pipeline, First Revised’ at an additional cost of Tk 70.63 crore and ‘Tathya Apa: Empowering Women through ICT Towards Digital Bangladesh project at an additional cost of Tk 163 crore 11 lakh. Second Stage and Second Revised)’. The duration of this project has been reduced to one year.
The advisor said, besides, the title of the information APA project will be changed.
The concerned advisers and secretaries were present in the meeting. Before this, on July 2, the last meeting of the Planning Commission was held during the previous Awami League government.
