Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, was celebrated across the country on Monday with due religious dignity, solemnity and enthusiasm. Devoted Muslims sacrificed animals according to their ability after the Eid congregation in the hope of receiving the blessings of Almighty Allah.
After the prayer, many of the worshipers rushed to the cemetery. Standing next to the graves of relatives with tears in their eyes, on this happy day, they prayed to God for forgiveness of their souls.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages expressing sincere congratulations to all the Muslims of the world including the countrymen.
This time, the main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah adjacent to the High Court at 7:30 am. President Md. Sahabuddin participated in the main Eid congregation. Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, cabinet members, parliamentarians, political leaders, senior government officials, diplomats from various Muslim countries and people from various walks of life participated in this gathering.
Devotees flocked to pray in the main congregation since dawn. Before 7:30 am, the National Eidgah Maidan was filled to the brim.
Khatib Hafez Maulana Mufti Ruhul Amin of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque led the main congregation at National Eidgah. At the end of two rakat wajib prayers, prayers are prayed for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the country and nation along with the entire Muslim Ummah. The worshipers in this congregation pray especially for the Muslims of Palestine. After that, the President exchanged Eid greetings with everyone.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the President exchanged greetings with people of different classes and professions at Bangabhaban’s Credential Hall. Sahabuddin and his wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana. Members of the President’s family and concerned secretaries of Banga Bhavan were present there.
The President exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life including cabinet members, senior politicians, diplomats, brave freedom fighters, judges, intellectuals, journalists, poets, writers, teachers and civil and military officials.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina exchanged Eid greetings with party leaders on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. On Monday morning, Sheikh Hasina exchanged greetings with leaders of Awami League and the party’s affiliated organizations at her official residence Ganobhaban. Around 9:30 am, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader along with top leaders of the party greeted the Prime Minister with flowers.
After that, leaders and activists of Awami League affiliated organizations including Dhaka Metropolitan South and North Awami League, Dhaka District Awami League, Jubo League, Volunteer League, Jubo Mahila League and Chhatra League exchanged Eid greetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The 197th Jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha was held at the historic Sholakia of Kishoreganj, Maidan, the largest Eidgah in the subcontinent and the oldest in the country, at nine in the morning. Lakhs of worshipers participated in Eid Jamaat. Khatib of District Markaz Mosque Maulana Hifzur Rahman Khan led the congregation. At the end of the prayer, prayers are offered for the peace and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.
Like every year, five Eid congregations were held at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The congregations are held periodically from 7 am. The last congregation is at 11:15.
On the occasion of Eid celebration, high-quality food is served in all hospitals, prisons, government children’s homes, old age homes, drug addiction treatment centers in the country. Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad have duly celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Meanwhile, the two city corporations of the capital Dhaka have taken all necessary measures to ensure that the environment is not fouled by the blood or waste of sacrificial animals.
