The holy month of Zilhaj of the current Hijri year (1445) may begin on June 7 (Friday), the Astronomical Institute of Egypt said. Accordingly, this year the first day of the holy Eid-ul-Azha may be celebrated on June 16 (Sunday).
Taha Rabeh, president of Egypt’s National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, said this information was calculated by the Institute’s Sun Research Laboratory.
In a statement on Saturday yesterday, Taha Rabeh gave detailed information about this. He said, on June 6 (Thursday) at 2:39 PM local time in Cairo, the moon of the month of Zilhaj will rise. The day is 29th of the holy month of Zilkad.
After sunset on that day, the new moon will be visible in the sky of the holy city of Mecca for 11 minutes and in the sky of Cairo for 18 minutes. The moon will be visible in other parts of Egypt for 12 to 20 minutes.
Taha Rabeh also said that the new moon can be visible from 1 to 28 minutes after sunset on the same day in different Arab and other countries. However, in Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, the moon may set 9 and 14 minutes before sunset respectively. As a result, there is a possibility that the moon will not be seen in these places that day and night.
