On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the homebound passengers suffered due to the delay in the train journey.
Those who booked tickets in advance on June 2 to go home, squeezed into the train today, Wednesday.
Dhaka’s Kamalapur station was crowded with passengers since morning. But Parabat Express of Sylhet, Egarosindhur Express of Kishoreganj, Rangpur Express delayed their departure, so they had to wait on the platform. The children and the elderly were becoming restless in the intense heat.
Meanwhile, Sylhet-bound Parabat Express is scheduled to leave at 6:30 am, that train left at 8:30 am. At 8:30 AM Parabat Express arrives at platform no.1. Left Kamalapur at 8.33 am.
The morning departure time for Egarosindhur in Kishoreganj is 7:15 am. Even at 8:30 a.m. passengers were waiting on the platform for the train. The Egarosindhur train left Dhaka at 9:25 p.m. two hours and 10 minutes late.
Mahanagar Prabhati Express on Chittagong route is scheduled to leave at quarter past 8, that train also leaves 15 minutes late at 8 pm.
Rangpur Express departure time is 9:10 PM. The train arrives at the platform at 9:30. And left at 10:50.
The Dewanganj special train was supposed to leave at 9:25, but the train did not leave even at 10:30 in the afternoon.
Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Mohammad Masud Sarwar said, ’69 trains will leave Dhaka every day before Eid. 12 trains left till 9:30 am today.’
He said, ‘In the morning, Parabat Express and Egarosindhur Express were slightly delayed. The rest of the trains were not too late.’
Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on June 17. Like the last few times, train tickets have been sold online in advance of Eid. 20 special trains have been kept on the occasion of Eid.
