Contractual appointment of Masood bin Momen as Foreign Secretary has been cancelled. Today, he was sent off in an informal ceremony at the Ministry of External Affairs.
Advisor on Foreign Affairs Md. Tauhid Hossain confirmed this information on Sunday (September 1) evening.
Masood bin Momen’s two-year contract was due to expire in December this year.
It is known that Masood bin Momen’s contractual appointment cancellation notification has not been issued yet. But that process can be completed within the night.
On December 31, 2019, he took charge as the 26th Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh. He was supposed to go on post-retirement leave in December 2022 as per service age limit. However, the then Awami League government decided to keep him in the same position for two more years in November 2022. Later, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing him as Senior Secretary for two years on contractual basis
