The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said that civilization is under threat due to climate change. So we need to build a different kind of civilization to build a sustainable world.

He said this while addressing the COP-29 summit in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on Wednesday (November 13).

The chief advisor said, we the human inhabitants of this planet are the cause of the destruction of this planet. We are doing this on purpose. We have chosen a lifestyle that works against the environment. And we justify it with economic structure. And this economic structure is leading to our destruction.

He said the climate crisis is intensifying. Our civilization is in grave danger. Because we continue to promote self-destructive values. We need to mobilize intellectual, financial and youth power to lay the foundations of a new civilization self-sustaining and self-reinforcing.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, we have to develop another culture to survive. A different culture should be built based on a different lifestyle. It will be based on zero waste. It will limit the consumption to the required demand, leaving no surplus. And this lifestyle will also be based on zero carbon, no fossil fuels, only renewable energy.

He further said that it will be an economy which will be primarily based on personal zero profit i.e. social business. It is defined as a non-profit business to solve social and environmental problems. A large part of social business will focus on protecting the environment and mankind. People’s lives will not only be protected but also qualitatively improved through affordable healthcare and education. This will make it easier for the youth to become entrepreneurs. Young people will be prepared through the new education of entrepreneurs. Job seekers will be replaced by entrepreneurship oriented education.

The Chief Adviser said that environmental security requires a new way of life, which will not be imposed on anyone. People will love it. Young people will love that lifestyle. Every young person will grow up to be a Three Zero individual—creating zero net carbon emissions, zero resource concentration, and zero unemployment just by building social businesses and becoming entrepreneurs themselves. Every person will grow up as a Three Zero person and remain a Three Zero person throughout their life. It will create new civilizations.

What we need to do is to adopt a new way of life compatible with the safety of the planet and everyone who lives on it. And this will be done by today’s young generation. They love their planet,” added Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Earlier, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and his entourage landed in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to participate in the climate conference on November 11.
