The court has ordered the son to be hanged for killing his parents in Chowagacha, Jessore.
Additional District and Sessions Judge George VII Court of Jessore Mr. Jewel Adhikari gave this judgment on Monday.
In the verdict, the court ordered the hanging of Habibur Rahman Milan alias Milan Uddin (32), the only accused in the case.
During this time in the court PP Ad. Syed Kamrul Islam and Asami Habibur were present at Milon Katgara. The plaintiff Humayan Kabir and his family members were present in the court.
According to the documents of the case, on December 25, 2019, at 11:30 AM, Habibur Rahman Milon (32) of Ramkrishnapur village of the upazila, did not get the drug money from his father Mahir Uddin (62) and was beaten with a sharp knife. Meanwhile, when his mother Anwara Begum (55) prevented Milon, she was also cut and injured. Both of them died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. At that time the locals arrested Milon and handed him over to the police. Milon’s younger brother Humayan Kabir filed a case at Chougacha Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. Case No. 19, dated 25-12-2019. When the police took a statement under Section 161 of the INC, he confessed to killing his parents. When the police sent Milon to the court on December 26, he admitted to the judicial magistrate Mr. Mamunur Rahman that he had hacked his parents to death under section 164. In this incident, the court ordered him to be detained in jail.
Later, the investigating officer of the case, SI SM Enamul Haque, recorded the statements of the witnesses and filed the charge sheet in the court on June 3, 2020. Later the case was sent to District and Sessions Court George. At this point the case was sent to the Additional District and Sessions Court of George VII for trial. After taking the testimony of the witnesses and after a long hearing, on Sunday 30th June 2024, Judge Mr. Jewel Adhikari gave the verdict in the case. In the verdict, the court ordered the hanging of Habibur Rahman Milan alias Milan Uddin, the only accused in the case.
After receiving the verdict, the plaintiff in the case Humayan Kabir expressed his satisfaction and said that various people came back from the jail and told me that if Milon gets out, he will kill me like my parents. I was very worried because of that. Today I am relieved after getting the verdict. He thanked everyone related to the court.
Milon’s uncle Azizur Rahman, who was present in the court during the verdict, said, “I am happy to get justice for the murder of my brothers and sisters.” But the pain of losing them remains in the mind.
Badi Humayan’s grandfather Abdul Latif Pandit said, “I have been walking on the balcony of the court for five years. I am happy to hear the verdict today.
Chougacha Police Station OC Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said, ‘This is a fair trial and therefore all criminals should know that no one can get away with a crime. He thanked everyone involved in the case.
Advocate Syed Kamrul Islam, the public prosecutor handling the case, said, I have worked relentlessly for the punishment of the accused. Glad to get the verdict today. Glad to bring a criminal to justice.
