Sakhawat Hossain Prince and Kamrul Hasan got all the tenders in Jagannath University (JOB). Both are former leaders of the branch Chhatra League. Their political disciples, current president Ibrahim Faraji and general secretary SM Aktar Hossain are now controlling everything. They are repaying the gurus by holding the administration hostage, threatening to drive out contractors, withholding checks and getting them to work.
Several engineers of the university, who did not wish to reveal their names, said that the two top leaders of the BCL have made an unwritten rule – Prince and Kamrul will get campus work. If Kamrul takes the big job, Prince also has to pay the same amount for small jobs. The president gave the job to Prince, his elder brother of Bhola and former joint general secretary of the University Chhatra League, and Kamrul, the former organizing secretary of Madaripur and University Chhatra League, as secretary. In return, they take 8-10 percent commission of the tender. Earlier they were employees of Prince and Kamrul.
Azad Hossain, the victim contractor who is the leader of Haji Trade, said that he submitted a tender to reduce the 57 lakh taka work of the central mosque of the university by 10 percent. Chhatra League president Ibrahim called and threatened not to go to the campus. Later the job was given to her favorite prince for 57 lakh rupees.
Another victim contractor Mahfuzur Rahman said, ‘They (President-Editor) do not give me work because I am not willing to pay more commission. If someone gets a job other than their people, they send workers and make trouble.’ Apart from this, it is alleged that the president blocked the check of Tk 10 lakh of Anwar Hossain, the contractor who built the wall of the new campus.
