Former Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP). Shamsuddoha Khandkar built a mountain of illegal wealth. Not only Shamsuddoha, his wife Ferdowsi Sultana also has a huge amount of wealth.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a charge sheet against them in the court in the case of acquisition of assets outside known income.
The investigating officer of the case filed this charge sheet in the Dhaka Metropolitan Special Judge Court on Tuesday.
ACC information says that 1,270 acres of land are in their name in different parts of the country including Dhaka. Although the price of these lands is shown in the document as 70 crore rupees, the actual market price will be more than 500 crore rupees.
According to the details of the case, the ACC filed a case against Shamsuddoha Khandkar on January 21, 2019 on the charge of illegal acquisition of 8 crore 44 lakh 10 thousand rupees. After investigating the case, ACC Assistant Director Khorshed Alam submitted the charge sheet to the court on Tuesday.
According to the charge sheet, the ACC has received evidence of proceeds of crime of Tk 21 crore 5 lakh 25 thousand against former Additional Inspector General of Police Shamsuddoha Khandkar.
In the charge sheet, Shamsuddoha Khandkar has been accused of concealing information worth Tk 2 crore 87 lakh 3 thousand 383. Apart from this, the ACC has found evidence of acquisition of known non-income assets of Tk 27 crore 48 lakh 82 thousand 491 against Ferdousi Sultanar Khandkar, wife of Additional Inspector General Shamsuddoha Khandkar.
Incidentally, Shamsuddoha Khandkar assumed the post of Chairman of BIWTA on October 11, 2011. During his tenure, he was accused of endless irregularities, corruption and arbitrariness. In view of this, he was removed in February 2015.
