Awami League central joint secretary and former minister Dipu Moni, including 510 people have been sued. In Chandpur, the BNP leader’s house and office were vandalized, looted and set on fire. Apart from this, another 1,200 unidentified people have been accused in the case.
The case was filed at the Chandpur Model Police Station as the plaintiff by Salim Miah, the in-charge manager of Sheikh Farid Ahmed’s Munira Bhavan on Mehta Road in Chandpur city. Sheikh Mohammad Mohsin Alam of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station (OC) confirmed the matter on Thursday night.
Dipu Moni has been made the first accused and his elder brother JR Wadud the second accused in the case. Other accused include Chandpur District Awami League General Secretary Abu Naeem Patwari, Chandpur Municipality Mayor Zillur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Humayon Kabir and others.
According to the statement, on July 18 at approximately 7 pm, the Munira building owned by district BNP president Sheikh Farid Ahmed (Manik) was attacked, goods were looted, vandalized and the building was set on fire. His party office was also vandalized. At that time, Sheikh Farid Ahmed was out of the country for treatment. In total, about two and a half crores of rupees have been lost in that incident. A case has been filed in the police station to get justice.
In this regard, Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station OC Sheikh Muhammad Mohsin Alam said that the complaint has been received and verified. Filed the case on Thursday evening.
