A Bangladeshi teenager named Shri Jayant Kumar Singh (15) was killed in BSF firing at Baliadangi border in Thakurgaon. Her father and another person were shot and injured in this incident.
The incident took place in the area adjacent to Pillar No. 393 of the Dhantala border of Baliadangi Upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased Shri Jayant Kumar Singh is the son of Shri Mahadev Kumar Singh of Fakir Bhitha village of Upazila.
The injured are Sri Mahadev Kumar Singh of Fakir Vita Belpukur village and Bangthu Mohammad son of Darbar Ali of Nital Doba village. However, BSF has taken away the dead body of Jayant.
Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Kabir confirmed the accident and said, ‘One person died in BSF firing. Two are injured and undergoing treatment in Rangpur. The body is still with the BSF.’
Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB) captain Lt. Colonel Tanzir Ahmad said, ‘There was such an incident. We have continued the process of bringing back the body.’
It is to be noted that on September 1, teenager Swarna Rani Das (14) was going to a relative’s house in India through Lalarchak border of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar along with her mother Sanjita Rani Das. At that time BSF fired at them. Swarna died on the spot. He was shot in the chest. He was studying in class VIII at Nirod Bihari High School in Juri. BSF later took away his body. Indian authorities handed over his body to his relatives on 3 September.
A week after this incident, BSF presented another dead body.
