The police recovered the body of a college student named Rakib Hossain (17), who went missing while bathing in the river with his friends in Narayanganj. The police recovered his body from Jelepara Warnali Ghat of Ward No. 10, Nashik, Siddhirganj at 8 o’clock on Friday night.
Earlier on Thursday (July 4), Rakib had gone missing after taking a bath with a friend in the Shitalakshya river.
Rakib is the son of Khorshed of Gujamanik village of Meland police station in Jamalpur district. Currently, they are staying in Salahuddin Mia’s house at Godnail in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. Deceased Rakib Adamjinagar is a 1st year student of Government MW College.
Bappi Pradhan, the lessee of No. 2 Dhakeswari Khey Ghat, said that at 12 noon on Thursday, Rakib boarded a trawler with his three friends Nizam, Saif, Naim for fishing in the river. Later, Rakib and Nizam jumped from the trawler into the river just before reaching the other side of the river. At that time Nizam swam to the river bank but Rakib could not. Later Rakib swims to Nizam for his help. At this time, Nizam tried to take Rakib to the bank of the river but came back unsuccessfully. Later, he and his friends started searching for Rakib in a trawler. After much searching, Rakib’s family was not found.
Rakib’s sister and son-in-law Minhajul Abedin said, we also searched the river after receiving the news that Rakib went missing with his friends to bathe in the river. But I returned home without finding him anywhere. I got the news that his body was recovered on Friday night.

Narayanganj Sadar Police Station SI Md. Sabur Mia said that on Friday night we came to the spot after receiving the news of the dead body at Varnali Ghat. Later we recovered the body. No injury marks were found on the body of Surathal. The body has been handed over to the family.
