Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP has failed in the movement. He did not even go to the election for fear of losing. Now they are relying on the anti-quota movement. Based on this movement, their goal is to implement the fortunes and misfortunes of overthrowing the government. We have to be careful about this evil force. He said this in a joint meeting at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue central office of Awami League on Tuesday. Obaidul Quader said, ‘The movement of teachers and students is non-political. BNP and their supporters gave political support to this movement. You have to think about this. So that this evil circle cannot create chaos in the country by inciting and fueling teachers and students.’

He said, ‘As far as we know, the movement of quota reform students are doing, today (Tuesday) they have no scheduled program. Thank them for that. We also heard that they have appointed lawyers to prosecute the case in the High Court and will appear in court on time. This is also a logical decision.’ Awami League general secretary said, ‘Agitators don’t want to abolish quota, they want reform. When they represent themselves in the court, the court will listen to them, the government will also listen to the side. The Appellate Division of the highest court of the country will take a realistic decision after listening to all parties. Until then, I request everyone to be patient.’

He said, ‘I am drawing the careful attention of the agitators so that there is no public suffering. We will not provoke anyone with this. I am warning and reminding everyone that none of us should be provoked. Chhatra League has to deal with the situation cautiously. The leader has also instructed the law and order forces not to be provoked by them.

Obaidul Quader said in response to the question of when he would sit formally with the agitating teachers, ‘Did we say that we will sit in a formal meeting? We may also have difficulties. We are not disrespecting them. We are monitoring their movements. I hope it will be resolved in time.’

In response to a question about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad, Awami League General Secretary said, ‘The matter is legal, not political. Now BNP finds the smell of politics in everything. They did not do the legal battle for Khaleda Zia. They prevented Khaleda Zia from appearing in court for months. He was not allowed to attend. The case has been adjourned. Did not ask for bail. And we do not have evidence that BNP has made a visible protest march in this city.’

Awami League presidium member Kamrul Islam, Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Dr. Dipu Moni, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain, Finance Secretary Wasika Ayesha Khan, Agriculture Secretary Faridunnahar Laili, International Secretary Shammi Ahmed, Department Secretary Biplab Barua, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Sub Department Secretary Sayem Khan and others were present.
