BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the decisions taken by the interim government in a short period of time are logical and timely. This government is doing well. They try to solve the problems in a quick time. Also solved many problems. BNP favors a permanent form of caretaker government and a bicameral parliamentary system. The party is also in favor of reforming other institutions including the Election Commission. He said this in response to questions from reporters at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka after returning home from Singapore on Saturday night.
In response to a question, he said, reforms must be done. We have already said how we want reforms. As we have already said in point 31 that the caretaker government should make a permanent arrangement. In the constitution we have talked about adding a bicameral parliament. These issues should be resolved through discussion. So, BNP is in favor of reforms in the Election Commission and other institutions.
Mirza Fakhrul said that people need support and cooperation after the student revolution. Garments should be kept active especially to enrich the economy. In the field of law and order, all political parties, organizations, individuals and patriotic people should work together. A great transition is going on now. If we work together, we can keep the goal of the revolution.
Regarding the allegations of extortion against BNP leaders and workers since August 5, Mirza Fakhrul said that actually there is more misinformation. Generally the media of this country plays a very good role. But unfortunately some of the media, social media are spreading misinformation on purpose. I think, if there is a little problem after the revolution, it will be able to be overcome.
