Kushtia’s Daulatpur Upazila BNP Joint Secretary Nuruzzaman Hablu Molla is leaving the old jeep and driving the new Harrier. His sudden change after August 5 caught the eye. Among the leaders and activists of the district and upazila, there is fierce discussion and criticism about Harrier.

It is known that the dominance of BNP leaders has increased in the area after the fall of Sheikh Hasina in the student-community coup on August 5. Awami League’s joint general secretary Mahbubul-Alam Hanif’s close contractor, the party’s leaders have taken two expensive Harriers as ‘Utkoch’. The contractor has already got the work of a large part of the Padma river protection dam in Kushtia.

According to local sources, the Awami League supporters demanded a new car from the businessman in addition to a large sum of money for Hablu Molla to work. At one point, some leaders including Hablu Molla reached an agreement about the car. According to a person close to Hablu, in late August, Hablu expressed interest to some people to sell the old Jeep. Later, a local businessman bought the jeep for 10 lakhs. Basically, after getting the Harrier, to avoid controversy, Hublot started selling old Jeeps. However, many people in BNP came to know about Hablu’s meeting with the businessman and understanding about Harrier.

A few weeks ago, Hablu took delivery of the Harrier (Dhaka Metro-G 14-5281) from a showroom in Dhaka. At present, he is participating in various political meetings in the area. Hablu Molla’s car was registered on August 30 under Mutual Trust Bank, MTB Centre, 26 Gulshan Avenue branch. The liability is shown in the name of the bank.

Hablu, the former president of the district student party, has been criticized in the area for various reasons including the arms deal. He has also served several times in jail. Although BNP boycotted the 2014 parliamentary elections, Hablu was expelled from the party when he ran.

When asked about the Harrier, Hablu Molla verbally abused the reporter. He said, ‘Many of the current leaders of the district BNP are fakirs. I am the son of a landlord. I do not lack resources. I can buy four such cars together. Some party leaders are working against me. They are the ones who are spreading the propaganda.’

Hablu Molla claimed that he bought the Harrier by selling the old jeep and taking a bank loan. He said that the contractor in question had gone to get a license for a job.

District BNP Member Secretary Engineer Zakir Hossain Sarkar said that they have also heard the matter. Will investigate. There will be no place for criminals in BNP. The party will not take responsibility for anyone’s misdeeds.
