Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that BNP has caused a lot of damage to the country due to hostile relations with India.
He said, ‘Because BNP had a hostile relationship with India, the country has suffered a lot. We want balanced diplomacy to be maintained at all times. The country will move forward with balance diplomacy. The current government does not protect the relationship by selling the national interest.
He said this in the president’s speech at a joint meeting organized at the central office of Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Thursday.
The bridge minister said, ‘Bangladesh does not want to return to any bad governance. India is all around us except some parts of Myanmar. Sheikh Hasina has broken the walls of doubt and mistrust. We can solve the problem at the discussion table. But not animosity.’
Obaidul Quader said, “I will solve all problems with India at the negotiating table. Want a friendly, balanced and respectful relationship. The government will not contact anyone to sell the national interest. Many problems like enclaves and border problems have been solved in the past.’
He said, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman raised our border problem in Parliament. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working completely to solve that problem.
Awami League General Secretary said, ‘Enclave problem has never been solved peacefully anywhere in the world. But in our country it happened peacefully. Because we want to maintain a good relationship. Any problem can be solved through discussion if the relationship is friendly.’
Obaidul Quader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is regularly investigating the flood situation in Sylhet and said, ‘The flood situation in Sylhet is dire. In this situation, Awami League leaders and activists have to participate in relief and rescue activities.
He urged the public representatives of Sylhet region to help the water-logged people as much as possible.
While announcing the program of the founding anniversary, Obaidul Quader said, ‘All the great achievements of the country have been achieved only through Awami League. This team has come through a glorious history. Ignoring all the obstacles, he established the rights of the people.
At this time, Obaidul Quader announced various programs on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of Awami League. The program includes a special platinum jubilee celebration at the grassroots level across the country. The anniversary rally will start from the Engineers Institution at 3 pm on Friday and will end at No. 32. Cultural program will be held at Rabindra Sarovar on June 22. Party president Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu at 32 road in Dhanmondi at 7 am on Sunday, followed by central Awami League leaders and activists. The foundation anniversary rally of the party will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan at 2.30 pm. On the occasion of the day, the ‘Sabuj Dharitri’ campaign will be conducted on a party basis to plant trees across the country.
A cultural program will also be organized in Hatirjheel on Monday (June 24) evening. There is also an arrangement in the Rose Garden. Discussions will be held there. Again, on the occasion of the anniversary, there will be a bicycle rally on June 28.
