BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned and protested the incident of armed attack by the government party student organization Chhatra League and members of the law enforcement forces on the peaceful program of the students for the logical demand of reforming the discriminatory quota system.
He said these things in a statement on Monday (July 15).
BNP Secretary General said, ‘This violent attack is due to the fear of losing power. The scene witnessed by the countrymen of suppressing the legitimate demands of the students in a bloody manner to stay in power will go down in history as another violent chapter of Awami fascism. People, state, society, freedom, sovereignty are never safe in their hands. The Awami ruling group is now losing its spirit due to the heroism of the bloodshed of students by the police and terrorists. They want to silence the countrymen by adopting terrible methods of repression.’
He said, ‘The Awami government has adopted the same approach of suppressing the ongoing movement of ordinary students as it is running a steamroller on the movement of pro-democracy political parties. Today police and Chhatra League terrorists jointly attacked various universities and educational institutions of the country including Dhaka University and injured many students. The government has lost control of the turbulent street movement of university-school-college students across the country, including the capital, for the just demand of quota reform, that is why state power is being mercilessly used to suppress the movement, this is the traditional feature of Awami fascism.
“Dummy Awami government is continuously deceiving ordinary students about quota, because it is the tradition of Awami League to deceive people. The prime minister of the illegal government, after canceling the quota in 2018, reinstated the quota in a different manner this year,’ he said.
BNP General Secretary said, ‘Those who instigate Chhatra League goons along with the law and order forces to brutally attack the students are anti-human and inhumane. Those who resort to corruption and violence are also alarmed by the rational movement of ordinary students of colleges and universities. Because it is never possible to ensure the rights of any section of the people of various classes and professions by the government driven by the ideology of looting. So to silence the voice of the collective voice they resort to terrible violence.’
He said, ‘I strongly condemn and protest against the cowardly and despicable incident of injuring numerous students by unleashing law and order forces and Chhatra League terrorists on students. Of course the terrorists involved in such diabolical activities must be punished. I wish the injured students a speedy recovery and offer my deepest condolences.
