BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘Awami League made a mirror house to torture the leaders and workers of BNP-Jamaat. This terrible monster fascist Hasina government has killed two thousand people. Some lost their hands, some lost their legs, some had their skulls blown off. Today we live in free air. But remember, it will be free as long as we can keep it free.
Mirza Fakhrul said this at a public meeting organized by Upazila BNP at the Eidgah field of Haripur Upazila of Thakurgaon on Wednesday (September 18) at noon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, if we start like Awami League, can we survive? We will be in the same situation. Request to BNP leaders and workers, make yourself dear to your own people. Don’t do injustice to anyone.’
BNP Secretary General said, ‘We have suffered a lot in the last 16 years. Sheikh Hasina’s government tortured us. You have been put in jail for the crime of BNP-Jamaat. That situation has ended. Hasina, who became the most influential leader, had to flee the country through the student movement. That majestic Sheikh Hasina has taken refuge in India today and is in a pitiful situation. And those who oppressed us, took land and business, they have gone to jail.’
Addressing the present leaders and activists, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Don’t let the victory that has been achieved in the country go to waste. Let’s not lose the opportunity that is coming to heal the country and make it better.’
District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice President Noor Karim, Obaidullah Masud, Abu Taher Dulal, Haripur Upazila BNP President Jamal Uddin, General Secretary Abu Taher along with district BNP and associate organization leaders were present in the public meeting.
Addressing Obaidul Quader, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Obaidul Quader used to mock me and say, “We will not run away.” If I have to escape, I will not go out of the country.” He called my name and said, “Fakhrul, won’t you give me a place in your house?” Now I want to tell him (Obaidul Quader), you come, come to my house.’
Commenting that the people of Sanatan religion are the deposit of the majority, the secretary general of BNP said, ‘There is a large part of people of Sanatan religion in our country. They are our deposit. It is our responsibility to protect them. We have to protect this deposit. Puja is coming. Let there be no mishaps in the worship.’
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘The current government says that some things have been done very badly by the Awami League government. One of these is the voting system. It needs to be fixed. So that everyone can vote. We will elect representatives through a vote of whoever will vote. This time should be given to the interim government. They are all neutral people, do not belong to any party. But love the country. They have started working. We should cooperate with them.’
Mirza Fakhrul said about India, ‘India is next to you. They do very bad things. Our people are shot dead at the border. We want to be good neighbors with them. But if injustice is done to us, we will protest against it.’
