The Hindu Raksha Dal has been accused of attacking a Muslim slum in Ghaziabad in western Uttar Pradesh, India.
The residents of that slum are Bangladeshi Muslims, and they were beaten up and vandalized.
However, Ghaziabad ACP Abhishek Srivastava said that those who were attacked are not Bangladeshis but residents of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. A case has been filed in this incident, action will be taken soon.
According to the FIR filed with the police, Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinki Chowdhury along with 15-20 workers vandalized the slums built on government-owned land near Guldhar railway station and beat up the residents. They did not stop even though the police stopped them.
BBC Hindi Correspondent Muhammad Javed found out that the victims used to work as garbage collectors in Ghaziabad. The video of the incident has also gone viral on social media.
Eyewitnesses of the incident told the media that Hindu Raksha Dal activists came here and asked whether they were Hindus or Muslims. Those who were Muslims were beaten.
