The United States has condemned the attack by the Chhatra League on ordinary students agitating for quota reform in Bangladesh. They also said that they are monitoring the whole matter.

In the briefing, a journalist asked, ordinary students have been protesting for the past few days in favor of merit-based recruitment in government jobs in Bangladesh and demanding cancellation of quota. Bangladesh Chhatra League, the wing of the ruling party, attacked the protesters after the ruling Prime Minister threatened the protesters. And about five hundred students were injured. When the injured students went to the emergency department of the hospital for treatment, the leaders and activists of BCL attacked them. What is your position on this ongoing protest in Bangladesh?
In response, Matthew Miller said that the United States is aware of the widespread student protests in various places, including Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. And we are monitoring the matter. Hundreds of people were injured and two killed in the attack. Freedom of expression and peaceful assembly serve as essential foundations for any thriving democracy. We condemn any form of violence against peaceful protesters. I also express my condolences to those who have been victims of this violence.
