Chhatra League leader Siam Hasan (26) has been arrested in connection with the attack on the convoy of former US Ambassador Marsha Barnicutt in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) police arrested him from Taj Mahal Road area of Mohammadpur of the capital at around 11:30 pm on Monday (September 23). Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman of DMP Media and Public Relations Department of DMP confirmed the arrest at night.
He said, on the basis of secret information on Monday night at 11:30, the DB Tejgaon team of DMP arrested the accused accused in the case of the attack on the convoy of the former US ambassador Marsha Barnicut in 2018. Siam has arrested Hasan. He was arrested from a house on Mohammadpur Taj Mahal Road.
Arrested Siam Hasan is accused in the case of killings during the recent student uprising. The official of DMP also said that there are more cases against him.
On the night of August 10, 2018, Dr. Marsha Burnicat’s convoy was attacked. Badiul Alam Majumdar filed a case at Mohammadpur police station. On January 18, 2021, the investigation officer of the case, police inspector (unarmed) Md. Abdur Rauf filed the charge sheet in the court. 19 people were made witnesses in the charge sheet of the case. On March 1, 2022, the court framed charges under Sections 143/323/427 and 506 of the Penal Code of 1860 against the nine accused.
The accused in the charge sheet of this case are Naimul Hasan, Feroz Mahmud, Mir Amjad Hossain, Md. Saju Islam, Rajibul Islam Raju, Shahidul Alam Khan Kajal, Tanna aka Tanha aka Mujahid Azmi Tanna, Siam and Oli Ahmed aka Johnny.
