Anti-quota movement: New program announced

The anti-discrimination student movement has announced a new program to implement the demand for reforming the quota system in government jobs. The agitating students left Shahbagh saying that the next program will be announced on Saturday (July 13) evening.

On Friday (July 12) at 6:30 pm, they announced from Shahbagh that online and offline representative conferences will be held in all universities and colleges across the country on Saturday and a press conference will be announced at 6 pm about the next program

Earlier today, around 5 pm on Friday, a protest march started in front of Dhaka University (DU) Central Library under the banner of ‘Anti-discrimination student movement’. They visited different roads of the campus and stayed at Shahbagh intersection.

They called for demonstrations and rallies today against the police attack on the students of various universities of the country during the ‘Bangla Blockade’ program on Thursday. He gathered at Shahbagh to implement it.

Meanwhile, Chhatra League leaders and activists also started gathering at Madhur Canteen of DU from noon.

Abu Bakr Majumdar, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, “Police lathi-charged and threw tear gas on our brothers and sisters in Comilla, Chittagong, Shekribi and other universities during the movement yesterday. Rajshahi University’s ruling student union president slapped our coordinator. We strongly condemn and protest this attack. I want to say on behalf of the coordinators, if anyone attacks us, we will put up an all-out resistance against them.

At that time, the students said, ‘No quota, merit merit’, ‘Kubi/Chabite/Shekri attack why, the administration wants an answer’, ‘Police/attack/prosecution movement, can’t be stopped’, ‘One point, one demand, one quota, not quota’ Come back’, ‘Sara Banglaye Khabar De, Kota Prathar Kabar De’ etc. started giving slogans.

The current one-point demand of the students is to cancel all kinds of unreasonable and discriminatory quotas in all grades and bring the quota to the minimum level for the backward groups mentioned in the constitution and amend the quota system by passing a law in the parliament
