The agitators have announced a new program demanding the abolition of the quota system in government jobs and the reinstatement of the 2018 circular. According to the programme, a total blockade program will be held across the country next Wednesday. Also online and offline mass communication will continue tomorrow Tuesday along with class-examination boycott.
Nahid Islam, one of the co-ordinators of the ‘anti-discrimination student movement’, announced this program at Shahbagh after the sit-in program at important points in and around Dhaka University on Monday (July 8) at 8:30 pm.
He said that a press conference will be held tomorrow at 3 pm and the overall program will be announced on Wednesday.
It was announced that all the important places of the country will be blockaded for the whole day on Wednesday when the all-round Bengali blockade begins. That is why they will prepare on Tuesday. Mass communication will be conducted online and offline on Tuesday.
Earlier, at 3:30 in the afternoon, the students started the Bangla blockade program in front of the central library of the university. Later, around 4:30 pm, students blockaded Bangla at Kantaban, Mintu Road, Matsya Bhavan, Chankharpool, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate in the capital. Due to this, the traffic of the surrounding roads was stopped.
The students are carrying out this movement to demand four points, including the reinstatement of the circular issued by the government in 2018 by canceling the quota system in government jobs.
