Anti-quota agitations rocked various campuses, with blockades and traffic jams

The anti-quota movement is going on for the fourth day in various universities of the country with a total of four demands, including cancellation of the quota system in government jobs, reinstatement of the 2018 circular.

This movement is going on from Thursday morning to evening in any university of the country. Due to this, severe traffic jams have been created for hours on various roads and highways of the country including Dhaka.

The students said that this program will continue until all their demands are met.

But on the 5th of July, that means tomorrow, Friday being a holiday, the movement will be closed all over the country on that day.Protest march will be held in all colleges and universities of the country from 3 pm on Saturday and students have also announced to boycott class-exams and strike in all colleges and universities the next day.

Thursday’s anti-quota movement

Students of government colleges including Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University also protested at various points in Dhaka on Thursday.

The students of Dhaka University and its surrounding colleges started the procession around 11 o’clock that day. Later they stayed at Shahbagh intersection, which lasted until 6:30 pm today.

On this day, thousands of students gathered at Shahbag intersection, causing severe traffic jam on the roads.

“But we have ensured the transportation system of the ambulance,” said Abdullah Salehin Ayan, a student of Mathematics Department of Dhaka University.

On this day, the students also protested from 11 am to 1 pm.

A large number of students of Chittagong University have joined the movement on this day. Due to their movement, the Rangamati-Chittagong road has caused severe traffic jam up to 10 km.

The students of Barisal University together occupied the Barisal-Patuakhali highway from 12 noon to 6 pm.

Thousands of students also participated in the anti-quota movement in Rajshahi University. They continued this movement from 10 am to 2 pm.

The students of Jahangirnagar University closed the Dhaka-Aricha highway for an hour from morning to noon. The Dhaka-Chittagong highway was also closed due to the agitation of Comilla University students.

Students of Jagannath University and surrounding areas protested in Tantibazar area, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University students protested in Agargaon, Dhaka.
