Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay a bilateral visit to New Delhi at a mutually convenient time. A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding are likely to be signed as well as some important announcements.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event on Thursday night, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen said, “We are working on a separate visit. The present visit is an official visit on a special occasion. We will schedule later. ’Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the swearing-in ceremony of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Saturday.
Initially, the event was scheduled to be held on June 8, but now it will be held on June 9.
“The main swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 9 evening and the prime minister will reach New Delhi on Saturday afternoon,” the foreign secretary said. He will attend the main opening ceremony. ’
World leaders, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, will also attend the event. More than 8,000 dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
Replying to a question, the foreign secretary said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may exchange views separately with other leaders, including Narendra Modi.
A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries during the bilateral visit, he said.
The foreign secretary also said, “Some announcements may come in some areas of mutual cooperation. We’ll work on it. ’
Masud Bin Momen said, “A new government has come in Bangladesh and a new government will be formed in India. We hope that the continuation of the relationship will be maintained and some new initiatives may be taken in this regard. ’
Earlier, PM’s Speech Writer M Nazrul Islam confirmed to UNB that she will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the prime minister on June 9. He is scheduled to return home on June 10.
The BJP-led NDA coalition won 293 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha elections in the lower house of India’s parliament. Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third time on June 9.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina accepted Modi’s invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of her government.

As a foreign leader, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the first to congratulate Modi.
“India and Bangladesh have historical relations. It has increased to unprecedented levels in the last ten years.
In a message shared via X, Modi said he looks forward to working together to further strengthen the people-centric partnership between Bangladesh and India.

Modi received a telephonic congratulatory call from Sheikh Hasina on the NDA’s victory, India’s Press Information Bureau reported.
The two leaders vowed to work together to further deepen the historical and close ties under the new mandate to achieve “Developed India-2047” and “Smart Bangladesh-2041”.
The two leaders acknowledged the remarkable improvement in the lives of the people of the two countries over the last decade.
