The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice seeking an account of the assets of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and former member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Matiur Rahman. In the notice, the assets of their wives and children have also been sought.
ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin gave this information in a press conference organized at the ACC head office in Segunbagicha of the capital today.
The ACC secretary said that today the asset notice has been sent to their home address. Accounts of movable and immovable assets in their name must be submitted to ACC within 21 working days of receipt of notice.
He said that the ACC has approved the charge sheet against former Additional Inspector General of Police AKM Shamsuddoha Khandkar and his wife. The charge sheet will be submitted to the court soon.
It is to be noted that earlier, Benji’s family submitted a written statement of complaint through a lawyer on June 23 and 24 without appearing for the allegations of acquiring a large amount of illegal wealth. Benazir was summoned on June 6 and his wife and daughter on June 9. But they did not come and asked the ACC for time.
Meanwhile, the huge wealth of Motiur Rahman and his family, discussed in the goat scandal, has come to light. Matiur is currently in hiding.
