It is said that the partial committee of Central Chhatra Dal may be approved this week. At the same time, it is known from a source that the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee of the organization will be approved. However, this committee should not be like a group, the sacrifices will be evaluated – that is the expectation of Chhatra Dal aspirants.
In any movement, BNP’s ‘Vanguard’ famous Chhatra Dal has practically failed to show any success after 90s. To turn around from the current situation, on March 1 of this year, the existing committee led by Acting President Rashed Iqbal Khan and General Secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel was abolished and a seven-member partial committee of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Central Parliament was approved. Rakibul Islam Rakib was made president and Nasir Uddin Nasir general secretary in this newly formed partial committee. Senior vice-president of the committee Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahya, senior joint general secretary Shyamal Malum, organizing secretary Amanullah Aman, office secretary (vice-president rank) Moha. Jahangir Alam and Publicity Secretary (Joint General Secretary rank) Sharif Pradhan Shubo.
It is said that the new partial committee may be announced on the 5th of this month. According to the source, the 101-member committee of Chhatra Dal is more likely to be approved. Although there are allegations that the Central and Chhatra Dal committees that ended did not show much success due to the syndicate, the Chhatra Dal aspirants expect that this committee will choose the leadership based on sacrifices and not on the model of the group.
According to sources, BNP has come up with resistance program relying on the strength of Nationalist Chhatra Dal. Since its debut on January 1, 1979, the organization has played a leading role in various democratic movements, including the anti-dictatorship movement of the 1990s. Established as one of the main student organizations in the country in the eighties and nineties, the organization is now largely inactive. The failure of the party’s leaders is mainly responsible for this situation. The Chhatra Dal has failed in the timely movement for the crisis and the interests of the people. In the past there were allegations of syndicate-regionalism in giving committees to Chhatra Dal. That’s why tyagi and tested leaders fall to the seat. However, many fear that Chhatra Dal will be in a worse situation than before if this committee cannot get out of ‘Myman’.
Convenor of Eden College Chhatra Dal and former Joint General Secretary of Central Chhatra Dal, Rehena Akter Shirin told Naya Digant, ‘Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal is a big organization, the most popular organization in Bangladesh. Those who are playing an active role in the movement-struggle on the streets, those who have been doing it in the past or can do it in the future. The organization will retain whomever it deems fit. I think from that point of view, I was in the past and I will be in the present. Based on my session will stand me in good stead on this committee.
Former Joint Secretary of Chhatra Dal Touhidur Rahman Awal told Naya Digant, ‘I have always been in the field as an activist of Chhatra Dal, I am and will remain. The party will appreciate the sacrifices made in the movement to establish democracy. I have so much faith in my beloved organization.
Saleh Adnan, the former joint secretary of Chhatra Dal told Naya Digant, “I have tried to play my best role in the long movement struggle.”
‘I was an aspirant in the partial committee announced by the Chhatra Dal Central Parliament. Still, I accept the party’s decision as final. I believe, considering my dedication, competence and hard work in this difficult time of the party, the team will evaluate me for the highest position after the announcement. I do politics based on ideals, so I will work according to the decision taken by the party.’
Former Joint Secretary of Chhatra Dal Zakir Uddin Abir told Naya Digant, ‘I have been involved in Chhatra Dal politics since 2008. I was involved in all movements and struggles from the beginning. I have been in the field since October 28 in every stage of the movement to establish democracy, I have marched in protest ignoring the bloody eyes of the current fascist government. I believe that my sacrifice will be evaluated in the committee.
Former Joint General Secretary of Chhatra Dal, HM Abu Zafar told Naya Digant, “The comrades who have been in the struggle against the fascist government under the leadership of Desnayak Tariq Rahman, especially those who ignored the bloodshed of the police on October 28, were marching-meeting, protesting-struggle on the streets. Comrade should be valued. That’s what we want, above all, the decision of the country’s leader Tariq Rahman is the final decision, we will remain on the street by accepting it.’
Chhatra Dal’s former deputy general secretary Hayat Mahmud Jewel told Naya Digant, ‘We have been out of power for 15 years. Rank is not important to us. The main thing for us is to bring down this dictatorial government by any means. Whenever our guardian national hero Tariq Rahman called for agitation and struggle, we fell down. Our struggle is ongoing. If the organization appoints us to a position, we will try to do our best, and if we have to work as workers, we will not hesitate to stake our lives for the nationalist ideal.’
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir told Naya Digant that those who were in the movement and struggle, especially the sacrifice of October 28, will be evaluated in the committee and not outside of it. We are working that way.’
‘Scrutiny is now going on regarding the aspirants, everyone’s opinion is being taken.’
When asked about the time of approval, he said, ‘It is not possible to say the time, it will be announced when the party takes a decision.’
In this regard, Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam Rakib told New Digant, undoubtedly, the sacrifice will be evaluated in this year’s committee. There will be no syndicate or ring committee. Everyone will see when the committee is here, I can say this much.
He said that the work of the committee is going on, whether it is partial or full, the committee will be approved very soon.
