A group of students formed a human chain demanding the start of classes in Jagannath University in October. They demanded that the final admission date be announced by September 22 and classes start by October 1.
On Sunday (September 15) at 1:30 p.m., students of Jagannath University and cluster universities formed a human chain in front of Jabir’s administrative building.
According to the students, class activities have already started in Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University and many other universities. But classes have not yet started in 24 universities under the cluster.
At this time, if the classes are not started by October 1, the students warned of a strict program.
Md. Akibur Rahman Aqib, a student of law department, said, “Although our class was supposed to start on August 1, it was not possible. Our demand is to announce the final admission date by September 22 of this month and start the class activities of the clustered universities from October 1. If there is no decision in this, the students will come down to the streets.’
A parent in the human chain said, ‘I am saying on behalf of all the students, arrangements should be made to start the classes immediately after completing the final admission process. Many students have given the entrance exam a second time. Two years have passed from their lives.’
He also demanded to start classes immediately without delay.
Jebun Atkia of Haji Danesh University of Science and Technology Agriculture Engineering Department, Rahima Sultana of Jagannath University Mass Communication and Journalism Department and Khairul Islam of Law Department also spoke in the human band.
It is known that three months have passed since the admission test of the cluster university, but the classes have not started yet. Recently Dhaka University and Rajshahi University announced the start of new academic year classes from September 22 and Jahangirnagar University from September 30. But the fourth phase admission of 24 universities under the cluster is still stuck.
