The Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami called for the peaceful movement of the student society to succeed in all ways . Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement on August 5.
In the statement, he said, “The anti-discrimination student movement has been going on since last July. InshaAllah this movement of student society is now on the verge of victory. People of all levels of the country, people of all classes and professions have already declared full solidarity towards this ongoing movement. This unity of patriotic students gave birth to new history. Hundreds of students have been killed by the oppressors in this ongoing movement. I have deep respect for them and pray to Almighty God for forgiveness – may He accept them as martyrs. Deepest condolences to their bereaved families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.
He also said, we firmly believe that the ‘March to Dhaka’ program today, August 5, will create a new milestone, Insha’Allah. In order to make this program of the students-people a complete success, I call on the dear colleagues of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the freedom-loving honorable countrymen to jump in. Almighty Allah help us. The victory of the oppressed is assured, InshAllah.”
