Meeting of Jamaat leaders with Chief Adviser

Interim Government Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held a meeting with Muhammad Yunus.

An 11-member delegation led by Jamaat Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met with the Chief Advisor at Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Monday (August 12) afternoon.

Jamaat Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman mentioned the prevailing situation in the country and said, ‘Effective initiatives should be taken to bring the violence and law and order situation under control throughout the country. All political cases filed during the regime of the previous government should be withdrawn. A case should be filed against those who committed genocide to suppress the anti-discrimination student movement. Officials who supported the misdeeds of the previous government, including the police administration and the judiciary, should be removed and replaced by honest, efficient and professional officials. The white paper on the corruption of the previous government should be published and all the corrupt including ministers/MPs and government officials should be prosecuted. Those who were deprived of promotion during the previous government should be given speedy promotion and respectable posting. Forced retrenchment should be reinstated/contractually employed.

57 Bangladeshis protesting in the UAE in support of the quota movement should be given honorable resettlement. Steps should be taken to mobilize the economy of the country along with increasing remittances and arrangements should be made to bring back the smuggled money.

Jamaat Amir also said that in this difficult moment of the country, Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir have been playing the role of watchmen so that no nefarious faction can make a mess by attacking the houses, places of worship and welfare of people of different religions. Since the interim government has assumed responsibility and started the administrative process, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the security of the homes of people belonging to different religions. He also said, ‘Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir administration will cooperate fully for the establishment of peace and order in the country and the security of people’s lives and property, inshallah.’

No. Mr. Shamsul Islam (former MP), Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad (former MP) and Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Saiful Alam Khan Milan, Central Executive Council Member and Publicity and Media Department Secretary Matiur Rahman Akand, Central Executive Council Member and Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan South Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Council Member and Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan North Md Salim Uddin.

Advisor Professor Dr. was present in the meeting with the chief advisor. Asif Nazrul, Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser Md Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and Adviser Farida Akhtar, Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement respectively.
