Staff Reporter: Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. A meeting was held with the President at Bangabhaban regarding the formation of the interim government with Muhammad Yunus as the chief adviser. It includes the head of the three forces and 13 coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement. Asif Nazrul and some related people were present. It is known that all Nobel laureates as the chief advisors of the interim government. Accepted Yunus. When the students suggested his name, Dr. Yunus gladly agreed. No objection was raised from the political parties on this matter. The meeting was going on till writing this report at 10 pm. The meeting also discussed who will be in the advisory council.
Earlier, the army chief, navy chief and air force chief entered Bangabhaban to discuss the outline of the interim government. They entered Bangabhaban with a huge fleet of cars at 7:40 pm that day. Earlier, some time after 6 pm, an army microbus entered Bangabhaban, 13 coordinators of anti-discrimination student movement platform of the quota reform movement and Professor Asif Nazrul and Professor Tanjimuddin of Dhaka University.
Nahid Islam, one of the main coordinators of the movement, said that a team of 13 of us had come to Bangabhaban to meet the president and the three army chiefs. Professor Asif Nazrul and Professor Tanjimuddin of Dhaka University are with us. The current situation of the country and the outline of the interim government were discussed there. Earlier they announced to outline the interim government within 24 hours. Later that night they told the outline. Nahid Islam said in a video message, “We took twenty-four hours to announce the outline of the interim government.” But in this emergency we are announcing that outline now. We have decided, universally accepted and internationally renowned and Nobel Prize winning Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor to form the government. We spoke to him, he agreed to protect Bangladesh on the call of students. We request the President to take action in this regard. Besides, we will announce the full outline of the government formation and the names of the rest in the morning.
Nahid also said, we can see that vandalism and looting have started in various places after our coup and revolution. The friends of the fascists are doing such a planned thing to destroy our movement. We call upon the freedom-loving students to be alert and vigilant.
The coordinator also said, call on the President to restore the law and order environment in the country. We have become martyrs while doing this movement. We will not accept any other government without our demands. We do not want any military rule. We will defend this coup from the streets until the interim government takes over.
