Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, called on the countrymen not to engage in incitement-looting and communal attacks. He made this call in an interview on a private television channel on Monday evening. At that time Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah and seven other coordinators were present.

In response to a question, Nahid said, ‘I am calling on the revolutionary students to stay peacefully on the streets of Dhaka. They remained peacefully on the streets until our final announcement. Without any kind of incitement, communal attacks and looting. We have to protect our state resources. The people of this country now own everything in this country and state wealth. There will be a call to all so that no one gets a chance to loot this opportunity. It must be stopped.’

The coordinators said that they will soon propose the formation of the interim government through discussions with the citizens’ leadership, civil representatives at all levels and the political leadership.

The coordinators said, ‘We who have taken the lead in this movement are thinking of an interim national government by participating in discussions with civil society and political leadership. But none of those who were running the country under the fascist regime or the supporters of their ideology, can have such a government.’

Another coordinator said, ‘Students will stay in Dhaka until they reach their future ambitions.’
