Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its full support to the anti-discrimination student movement. The party announced this support in a statement on Thursday morning.
The statement said, ‘Seven people were martyred in the violent attack of the police and the armed Chhatra League during the peaceful movement of the students. In addition, many students were seriously injured in the massive attack by RAB, police, BGB and SWAT on the agitating ordinary students. The entire Bangladesh, including the educational institutions of Bangladesh, is stained with blood today. The educational life of the student society of Bangladesh is in the midst of uncertainty today. All educational institutions of Bangladesh, including Dhaka University, have already been declared closed.
It is also said, ‘For some time now, the students of the country have been peacefully protesting for the reform of the existing quota system in government jobs. The students’ movement has reached a decisive stage as various political parties of the country, including teachers’ society, journalists, intellectuals, lawyers, Ulamaye Keram, have supported the students’ movement.
The organization said, in the wake of this despicable bloody incident, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar has made a statement on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today, Thursday, July 18, giving full support to the program of the anti-discrimination student movement on the logical demand of quota reform in government jobs across the country.
In the statement, he said, ‘I am calling on the entire countrymen and general public on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to support the program of the anti-discrimination student movement and stand by the student society.’
In the statement, he also said, ‘At this critical juncture of the nation, we must raise our voices against the perpetrators of terrorism and anarchy and build a united resistance against all forms of violence to protect our future generations. May God help us.’
