Four people died due to electrocution in accumulated water in Dhaka

Heavy rains caused flooding in various areas of the capital on Friday. Four people died in separate places due to electrocution in stagnant water. They are carpenter Russell Das (27), his assistant Alauddin (17), construction worker Abdur Noor (35) and painter Ayub Ali (45). The police of the concerned police station recovered their bodies from Friday evening till late night and sent them to the morgue.Suman Das, a relative of Russell who died in Pallavi, said Russell worked as a carpenter in a furniture factory in Aziz Market in Baunia, Pallavi. On Friday, rain entered the factory and the furniture making machine got wet. When Russell and his assistant Alauddin tried to remove the machine at around 10:30 am, both of them died due to electrocution. Russell’s house is in Patia, Chittagong. He lived with his family in Bauniabad. Alauddin’s home is in Tarakanda, Mymensingh.SI Rajeev Dhali of Kotwali police station said that Ayub Ali died of electrocution in the rain water accumulated in the lane next to CMM Court on Friday morning. His village home is in Tarabunia of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. He lived in a rented house with his family in Sutrapur.According to Vasantek Police Station, Abdur Noor, a mason was electrocuted by rainwater accumulated in his house in North Vasantek around 3 pm on Friday. His village home is Jamalganj of Sunamganj. He lived with his family in Vasante.
