The government is staying in power by tolerating corruption’ said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP.

He made this comment at the Dhaka Metropolitan Conference of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Front at Nayapaltan in the capital on Sunday. Rizvi said, ‘India is now Awami League’s energy drinks because it supports the politics of Awami government’s crimes and destruction of democracy. Because, if India is with them, they can do everything. And Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said – India is our political friend, and China is for development. Because, if they have Indian certificate they can do everything. They can hold on to power by holding the entire nation hostage.’

He said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has divided the entire nation today by sowing fascist seeds. Now they have made democracy a corpse. They have created divisions from neighborhood to neighborhood, from village to village. Looting is like Awami League’s manifesto, occupying someone’s land is their right. Awami League is a party with the mentality of looting, black money and land grabbing.’

Rizvi said, ‘If they are in the opposition, they remain the same and when they come to power, they become lords. They have created such a division in the society that now there is no social relationship between Awami and the opposition party. And where Sheikh Hasina’s relatives have MPs, the situation is dire. The opposition party is not allowed to stand there. You have seen in Bagerhat, Barisal a few days ago BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia did not even allow the release rally.

BNP leader Abdus Salam, Bijan Kanti Sarkar, Aparna Roy and others also addressed the conference
