 The Appellate Division has issued a status quo on the judgment given by the High Court declaring the decision to cancel the freedom fighter quota system in the first and second class of government jobs invalid. At the same time, a date has been fixed for further hearing of the matter after next four weeks. 

On Wednesday (July 10) at 11 o’clock at the end of the hearing in the Appellate Division, the court gave this verdict.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Chamber Justice of the Appellate Division. Ashfaqul Islam fixed today for the hearing. The court of the Chamber Judge sat only to fix the date of hearing of this case. Later, two students of Dhaka University also applied for stay of the High Court verdict. The hearing of that application was also held simultaneously.

Earlier, on July 4, the Appellate Division upheld the judgment given by the High Court declaring the decision to cancel the freedom fighter quota system in the first and second class of government jobs invalid. On that day, the Appellate Division did not hear the state party’s application for stay of the judgment, and ordered ‘not today’. The Appellate Division told the state side that for the time being, the judgment of the High Court should remain as it is. When the judgment is published, file a ‘leave to appeal’. we will listen At that time, the Chief Justice said, the movement is happening, so be it. Do you change the verdict of the High Court by protesting on the streets? Attorney General AM Amin Uddin heard the state’s side in the court. Senior lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju was present in the court on behalf of the writ.

On June 5, the High Court declared invalid the decision to cancel the quota system for first and second class freedom fighters in government jobs. Then on June 9, the state filed an application to suspend the judgment of the High Court. On that day, the Chamber Court sent this application to the Appellate Division for hearing. On that day, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said that the High Court’s decision to cancel the first and second class freedom fighter quota system in government jobs will be upheld, or the Appellate Division will take the final decision.
