Blockade of students at Shahbag intersection, traffic stopped

The agitating students have blocked Shahbagh and other important intersections in the capital today as part of the ‘Bangla Blockade’ program demanding quota reform in government jobs. As a result, traffic is stopped on the road. On the other hand, there were reports of student blockade in Kawranbazar too. 

Students started gathering in front of the central library of Dhaka University from 10 am on Wednesday. After that, the students came and blockaded the lecture theater building, Master Da Surya Sen Hall, Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, VC Chatwar, TSC’s Raju Bhaskar at Shahbag intersection with a protest march.

The only demand of the students is to abolish the discriminatory quota in all grades and bring the quota for the backward groups mentioned in the constitution to the minimum level (maximum 5 percent) to pass the law in the parliament.

At the same time, students of Dhaka College blocked Science Lab in the capital. On the other hand, students of Eden College and Home Economics College blocked Neelkhet intersection. 

Meanwhile, Chankharpool, adjacent to Dhaka Medical College, Mayor Hanif blocked the road to the flyover, Dhaka University’s Amar Ekushe Hall, Dr. Students of Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, blockaded Matsya Bhavan Mor, Intercontinental Mor, Bangla Motor Mor. Students are going to block Farmgate. 

The blockade of a large number of students has created a standstill on the busiest roads of the capital. Traffic has been completely stopped on all these roads. There is a massive traffic jam all around.
