‘Actual’ casualties in Gaza war 186,000: The Lancet

British-based magazine Lancet reported that more than 186,000 people have lost their lives so far in the operation of Israeli forces in Gaza, Palestine. More than 38,000 people have been killed in the media and officially. However, those buried under the rubble of collapsed buildings and those who have died in the last 9 months due to lack of food and healthcare are not counted as such. If they are also considered as such, then the total number of casualties will be more than 1 lakh 86 thousand. 

According to the Lancet report, the food supply system and health care are most adversely affected during war. The number of deaths due to lack of food and medical care is much higher than those killed in war attacks. As much damage has been done in Gaza in the last 9 months of war, even if the war stops at the moment, the death will not stop. Food and medical deaths will continue to occur in Gaza for some time to come. 

According to the Lancet, many times more people are killed indirectly than directly killed by gunfire or assault. For every one direct casualty there are at least four indirect casualty – according to a generally accepted conclusion. As such, 8
