Leader of Opposition in Parliament and Chairman of Jatiya Party GM Quader said that due to lack of trust in the government, there is a movement on quota and pension in the country. This movement is logical and supportable.
He said that the government is using the freedom fighter quota to recruit their loyalists. And that’s why the students are protesting – the government should withdraw it under pressure.
He said these things while talking to reporters at the Circuit House in Rangpur on a two-day visit on Monday at 3 pm.
GM Quader also said, ‘University teachers are close to the government. They always stay with the government and support the activities of the government. The government says the new pension scheme will offer more benefits. But still the teachers are agitating from a place of lack of confidence.’
Japa Pradhan said, ‘The government has complicated the issue of Teesta project. We are dependent on external forces in various ways. The government thought of staying in power without thinking about the interests of the people. If Padma Setu is built with debt, then why Teesta Master Plan will not be done with debt. If this happens, the people of the whole country will benefit.’
Criticizing the excessive loan scheme, GM Quader said, ‘We can say that the situation is like eating ghee in the country. As a result, the burden of debt will fall on the people. Our economy has already suffered a major collapse. Govt shows excuses for war on Corona, Ukraine. While India’s inflation has halved, Nepal’s inflation has also come down. Even the bankrupt Sri Lanka has turned around. All countries are moving forward and we are falling behind.’ As the reason for this, he said, ‘The government is running the country through corruption and mismanagement.’
Rangpur District Jatiya Party General Secretary Abdur Razzak, Mahanagar Jatiya Party Vice President Lokman Hossain, Youth Solidarity District President Hasanuzzaman Nazim and other local leaders and activists were present on the occasion.
