The agitating students and job aspirants have been protesting and blocking the roads for several days demanding four-point demands including canceling the quota system in government jobs and reinstating the circular issued by the government in 2018. As part of this movement, the agitators will hold ‘Bangla Blockade’ program on Sunday.
Students gathered in front of the central library of Dhaka University (DU) under the banner of ‘anti-discrimination student movement’ and announced this program.
One of the coordinators of the movement, Nahid Islam, a student of the Department of Sociology of Dhaka University, said that the ‘Bangla Blockade’ program will be held today at 3 pm on Sunday. In this program, the ‘Bangla Blockade’ program will be conducted by blocking all the important points of the capital, roads, highways and all over the country.
Students and job aspirants united under the banner of ‘anti-discrimination student movement’ blocked the road at Shahbag intersection at around 4:40 pm on Saturday. Due to the blockade, there was heavy traffic on the roads around the Shahbagh junction
Earlier, thousands of students of Dhaka University gathered in front of the Central Library of the University as a pre-announced program at 2:30 PM. Later, a huge procession took place from there via Holpara-VC Chatter-TSC-Bakshibazar-Buyet-Eden College-Home Economics-Neelkhet-TSC and stopped at Shahbag intersection at 5 pm. Students joined the quota movement with separate processions from each hall of the university.
