30 students and outsiders were arrested while consuming drugs in various places of Chittagong University (CHB) campus.
Ganja and various narcotics, various drug-taking equipments have been seized from them. Authorities also seized 11 mobiles, 28 motorcycles and 2 private cars in the operation.
On Saturday (July 6) from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm this campaign was conducted by the University’s Proctoral Body.
Eight university students and the rest are outsiders among those detained and legal action will be taken in this incident, said the Proctoral Body.
According to those concerned, the students of the university who were found to be in possession of drugs will be subject to academic punishment according to the law of the university. Action will be taken against foreigners according to Bangladesh Police Act.
Liton Mitra, assistant proctor of the university said about the operation, “We arrested the outsiders and some of our students while indulging in drugs from biological faculty’s pond, central field, behind Bangabandhu Hall, sociology faculty’s shack, open stage and other quiet and secluded places. Later ID cards and mobile phones were seized from them. And motorcycles of foreigners have been seized.
He said, ‘more than 30 students and outsiders were arrested in disorderly condition. Later their motorcycle was seized. We will not give concessions against foreigners or drugs.’
