Former MP ANM Shamsul Islam, central president of Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation, said that two-thirds of the country’s people are workers. The invitation of Islamic labor policy has not yet reached the majority of this large population. The responsible leaders of Sramik Maidan should realize the importance of workers and expand and strengthen this Maidan.
He said this in the president’s speech at the selected responsible education camp of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions on the initiative of the federation on Saturday (July 6).
General Secretary of the Federation, Advocate Atiqur Rahman, was the special guest. Md: Keramat Ali. Federation’s Central Vice President Ghulam Rabbani, Associate General Secretary Advocate Alamgir Hossain and Professor Abdul Mateen were also present in it.
ANM Shamsul Islam said, the workers of our country are the most victims of oppression. They are not paid according to their work. Workers are being denied civil rights. Over the years various laws have been made to protect the workers but they are not implemented. In most cases the workers cannot go to the door of law. As a result, they are constantly being persecuted. This situation must be avoided. And in this case, the role of those responsible for this field is undeniable.
He said that it is not possible to get the fair rights of the workers without a strong organization. At the same time, no movement can succeed without the support of this larger population. Therefore, just as the support of the workers is needed to accelerate the movement of Islamic labor policy, it is also the need of the hour to expand and strengthen the organization. The labor leadership should give priority to the expansion of the Sramik Maidan. For this reason trade union organizations should be formed considering the importance of the labor market.
He also said that there is no alternative to trade union organizations for the realization of workers’ rights. Fair rights of trade unionized workers. Many people want to take away this right. They cannot be given that opportunity. The owners will not be the controllers of the trade union. The control of the trade union will be in the hands of the workers. For this, trade union organization should be established in every sector. Trade unions should be run with the participation of workers. Trade union activities should be organized regularly and effective initiatives should be taken to solve the problems of the members.
