Bangladeshi youth killed in BSF firing at Baliadangi border

BSF firing in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon. A Bangladeshi youth named Raju Mia (28) was killed.

The murder took place near 376/5 S pillar of Nagarvita border in Baliadangir at around 1 pm on Thursday (July 4).

On Friday, Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Kabir confirmed the matter.

The deceased Raju Mia is the son of Habibar Ali of Gariali village in Bara Palashbari union of Baliadangi upazila.  

The OC said that Raju went to bring cows to India illegally through the border around 1 pm on Thursday. He was killed on the spot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). BSF later took away his body.

Thakurgaon-50 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Tanzir Ahmad said, I heard the news of the death of one person in the firing. However, it is not yet certain whether the deceased is a Bangladeshi or an Indian. We have called the BSF for a flag meeting. The matter can be confirmed after the flag meeting.
