Swapan Hossain alias Swapan (35). The name of a terrible drug lord. If anyone interfered with his drug business, he would pick him up, tie his hands and feet, beat him and bury him alive under the ground. One of the terrors of the Savar area, the locals did not dare to open their mouths for fear of the drug godfather. As a result, he became the owner of many houses and abundant wealth by selling Yaba, heroin and other drugs.

Swapan was arrested by the detective police on June 11 with foreign weapons, bullets and heroin in the case of abducting a woman named Seema Akhtar and burying her alive in Mineralnagar of Birulia. After that, all the shocking information about his criminal world came out during the interrogation. Based on the information given by Swapan, the bones and skull of a young man were recovered from the ground floor of his under-construction house in Savar’s Anandpur Citylane area. Accepting the responsibility of these incidents, Swapan recently gave a confessional statement to the court under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Swapan with a fit body is very health conscious. He also used to exercise regularly by going to the gym. Tea-cigarettes and drugs could not even touch him. But he is the godfather of drugs in that area. The people of the area knew him as the drug lord. But no one dared to utter a word against him. In order to sustain the drug business, Swapan takes a terrible form day by day. If someone interfered with his business, he would pick him up, tie his hands and feet, beat him and bury him alive under the ground. It had become his addiction.

According to related sources, Swapan Hossain is the only son of freedom fighter Shahjahan Mia of Emandipur of Savar Municipality. He was very clever from childhood. He was admitted to the Hafeji Madrasah on the family’s decision. But after memorizing 25 verses of the Quran, Swapan left the madrasa. Being a child of a poor family, he later engaged himself in various jobs including working in a garment factory, driving. At one stage 5-6 years ago he met a drug dealer in Genda area of ​​Savar. Swapan started selling drugs as a salesman of that drug dealer. After that, he took control of the drug trade. Godfather of drugs by building his own army. Shipments of Yaba and other drugs from various parts of the country, including Cox’s Bazar and Ukhia, started arriving at Swapan’s dera. Swapon continued the big drug business by managing local Mastans. Swapan ran drug trade in various areas including Pakija, Talbagh, Radio Colony, Genda, Kalma in Savar and Akrain, Mineranagar in Birulia with several accomplices. Birulia’s Mineranagar and Savar’s Anandpur houses were used as drug dens. Swapan became the owner of huge wealth in the last 5 years with money from drug sales.

Seema Akhtar, wife of Jahangir Alam, a Saudi expatriate of Shivchar in Madaripur, used to live on rent in her sister’s house at Minera Nagar in Birulia Union of Savar. He worked as a police source besides working in an NGO. When Seema Akhtar went missing on June 2, her daughter Tanya Akhtar filed a kidnapping case at Savar Model Police Station. Drug peddler Swapan and his associates Asif, Saiful Islam and Rezaul were accused in the case. A team of DB Dhaka North arrested Swapan’s associate Saiful in this case on June 6. According to the information given by him, the semi-decomposed body of Seema was recovered by digging the soil of Swapan’s house in Birulia.

According to local sources, Seema had been beaten by them earlier for stopping Swapan and his accomplices from drug dealing. Tanya Akhter, the daughter of the victim, said that 2 days before the disappearance, Seema Akhter had informed her that on May 13, the police arrested Birulia Union Jubo League president Hamid Mia and Swapan’s alleged wife Popi Akhter along with 300 pieces of Yaba from Swapan’s house in Mineranagar. Swapan and his accomplices had given Seema to the police and handed them over. Enraged, Swapan and his accomplices threatened to kill Seema and disappear the body.

A team of DB Dhaka North arrested drug kingpin Swapan along with a foreign pistol, 5 rounds of bullets and heroin from Rupnagar three road junction in Kulla Union of Dhamrai on June 11 in the Seema abduction and murder case. DB arrested four people in connection with Seema’s kidnapping and murder case.

After his arrest, Swapan told the court that he was very angry with Seema for handing over his alleged wife Popi and associate Abdul Hamid (Birulia Union Jubo League President). On June 2 his associate Asif went to Kalma area to sell Yaba. Swapan, Saiful and Rezaul were with Asif on the way back after selling Yaba. They met Seema when they came in front of Samchur’s shop in Mineranagar. Seema saw them and scolded them. At this time, the four of them took Seema and went towards Swapan’s house. Seema did not want to go and Saiful’s shirt was taken off and his hands were tied. Then they carried Seema on their heads and took them to Swapan’s house. Seema bites Swapan and Saiful’s fingers in self-defense when they go near the house. Then Rezaul pulled Seema’s hand and tied a towel around his neck. Lose sense of it. Then a deep pit was dug on the south side of the house to line the toilet. Swapan threw Seema into that hole filled with water. Seema could not rise from that hole. Later they buried him alive.

Earlier on April 19 last year, Tofazzal Hossain Tunu (26), son of Salamat Mia, a garment worker, of Imandipur in Savar town area, went missing. Tunu’s relatives were suspicious of Swapan in that incident. The case was being investigated by the DB. In that case, DB Swapan was remanded for 4 days after being arrested. After the remand, Swapan gave a statement under section 164 in the court. Swapan said that Tunu forcibly took 50 pieces of Yaba from his drug business partner Ramzan. Due to this incident, Swapan decided to remove Tunu from the world. On April 19, 2023, at around 12:30 PM, Swapan, Ramzan, Rabbi, Hriday and others together took Tunu from Anandpur Bakkar’s house. After that, he was taken to the nearby open field and beaten and brought to Swapan’s under-construction house in Anandpur in a half-dead condition. There, a 7-foot hole was dug in a room wrapped with a blanket and covered with mud. Then cement is cast on it.

Swapan said that in the house where Tunu was lynched, he used to deal in drugs. And the money of selling drugs was transacted through digital channels.

Meanwhile, another youth named Ilyas Hossain is missing after a fight with Swapan’s associate Kalu. His brother Shah-Alam said that after going out for breakfast on May 9, 2023, Ilyas did not return. The suspicions of Elijah’s relatives are also towards the dream.

On the condition of anonymity, several local residents told Jugantar that Swapan was living with a house rent of 2500 taka a few years ago. As he could not pay the house rent, he was evicted by arbitration in the area. By selling drugs and yaba, Swapan became the owner of huge wealth overnight. Two storied houses on 5 percent land in Anandpur, four to five houses in other places including Birulia and Majidpur.

Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Mobashshira Habib Khan, the supervising officer of this sensational case, told Jugantar that Swapan is a drug kingpin and a terrible murderer. The people of the area were afraid of him. Seema was taken in front of the people but no one dared to stop him. At the first stage of questioning about Tunu, he said that the body was burnt. Later, during interrogation, he admitted that he buried the body in his house. He said, “I have not seen any such horrific incident of killing people alive in my working life. He said, we will investigate and try to uncover the issue of Ilyas missing.
