The Israeli military has launched an attack on the southern residential area of Khan Yunis in the besieged Gaza Strip. At least eight civilians lost their lives in the area today in their attack on Tuesday.

A day after Israel ordered Palestinian civilians to evacuate, Khan Younis was bombed. The Israeli military said on Tuesday that 20 rockets had been fired at Israeli settlements, including an overnight airstrike in Khan Yunis. In addition, airstrikes have also been carried out in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Israeli ground forces have also continued their operations against Hamas in central Gaza.

“Nowhere in Gaza is safe, and stronger efforts are needed to protect civilians,” Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, told reporters on Monday. The order to evacuate citizens from Khan Yunis proves this.

On October 7 last year, Hamas, the armed organization of the Palestinian liberation movement, fired thousands of rockets at Israel from the besieged Gaza Strip. 1,400 people were killed in Israel. After years, Israeli forces intensified the oppression of the besieged Gaza Strip. More than 38,000 Palestinians have lost their lives and more than 85,000 have been injured in military operations since that day. Most of the casualties were civilians. In such a situation, a ceasefire is being called around the world.
