The trawler that was burnt in Buriganga caught fire in stages

In Narayanganj’s Fatulla, another fire has occurred in a trawler carrying oil drums in the Buriganga river. On Wednesday afternoon, when the fire broke out with an explosion, it was brought under control by the efforts of 10 units of the fire service. After 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm, the trawler caught fire twice.

Shortly after this, at 4:12 pm, the trawler caught fire again. However, the fire service personnel brought the fire under control in just 15 minutes. Then at 7:30 pm, the trawler caught fire for the third time. According to the fire service, the oil inside the trawler is causing fire again and again. 

Depot officials said that the goods were loaded in the trawler today before leaving for Barisal Manpura. It had 86 drums of petrol and 70 drums of diesel. Four workers were on board the trawler before the fire broke out in the afternoon. They were cooking inside. When the engine of the trawler was started at half past one, there was a loud explosion immediately.

Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service Fakhruddin said that the fire came under control in the afternoon. Now we are working to control the fire again. 

Meanwhile, the fire service recovered the body of one person in the incident. After extinguishing the fire, the body was recovered by searching the trawler. One of the remaining three aboard the trawler managed to get ashore, but two others are still missing.
