A trawler carrying oil drums caught fire in Buriganga river at Fatulla in Narayanganj. A charred body of a person was recovered from the accident in the area adjacent to Yamuna and Meghna depot on Wednesday afternoon. One person was sent to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit with injuries. Apart from this, two others are missing. After three hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control at 4 pm, said Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service Fakhruddin. Bhola was supposed to go to Manpura with oil. The oil trawler caught fire while cooking at noon. The drums of petrol and diesel in the trawler exploded with loud noise.
Depot officials said that the trawler had 86 drums of petrol and 70 drums of diesel. There were four people inside the trawler. They were cooking there.
Fakhruddin, Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service said, we went to the spot immediately after getting the information. Eight units of the fire service brought the fire under control at 4 pm after a three-hour effort.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatulla Model Police Station Noore Azam said that one person died in the fire. Another person has been sent to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit in Dhaka with burns.
