About 1 lakh 65 thousand people of the country have been given legal assistance at government expense. This information has been revealed in a report published on the website of the National Legal Aid Agency (Legal Aid).
The report covers data on legal aid through the National Legal Aid Agency (Legal Aid) from 2009 to March 2024.
According to the report, a total of 1 lakh 64 thousand 797 people have received free legal assistance at the designated hotline call center number 16430 (toll free) of the National Legal Aid Organization (Legal Aid).
It also said that before the creation of the National Helpline, 17,328 people had been provided legal services through the hotline at government expense.
According to the report, 1 lakh 12 thousand 913 cases were settled through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at Legal Aid. 1 lakh 24 thousand 958 cases were taken up for ADR. From 2009 to March 2024, legal aid has been provided to indigent litigants in 3 lakh 84 thousand 886 cases at the government expense. Out of this, 1 lakh 94 thousand 122 cases have been settled through legal aid.
